NINETY SIX, S.C. – Nick Brediger and Myles Creighton both carded an opening-round 74 to pace Radford in Sunday's first round of the 2016 Big South Men's Golf Championship at The Patriot Golf Club.

In an attempt to recover from a dreadful start, Radford rallied on its second nine with a 1-over-par ledger. Behind their late-round surge, the Highlanders find themselves in eighth place at 304. They are only two shots behind Coastal Carolina and five shots behind fifth-place Gardner-Webb.

Brediger and Creighton, who are tied for 15^th, keyed Radford's resurgence on the course's outward nine. The duo combined for five birdies, including three in a row from Brediger on holes 7-9. Creighton birdied the par-4 third and the par-4 sixth to shoot a 2-under-par 34 over his final nine holes.

Also making a move late in his round was Gareth Sargent, who was playing in his first conference championship with the Highlanders. The sophomore birdied three of his last six holes to climb into a tie for 32^nd at 78. Conner Hayden, who played his par-5s in 2-under-par, also signed for a 78. Conner Lewis rounded out the RU lineup with an 80 and is tied for 45^th.

On the strength of four golfers inside the Top-20, Liberty fired a 2-under-par 286 to establish a three-shot advantage over Campbell. The Fighting Camels returned a 1-over-par 289 to the clubhouse behind individual frontrunner Jesper Svensson's 5-under-par 67. Top seed Charleston Southern is third at 2-over-par 290.

Radford is once again paired with Winthrop and Coastal Carolina for Monday's second round, which gets underway for the three teams at 9:20 a.m. off hole No. 1.
