MEN’S GOLF MOVES INTO TIE FOR SEVENTH AT BIG SOUTH CHAMPIONSHIP

NINETY SIX, S.C. – By shaving seven strokes off its opening round, Radford has climbed into a tie for seventh following Monday's second round of the 2016 Big South Men's Golf Championship at The Patriot Golf Club.

The Highlanders, who carded a 304 in Sunday's first round, fired a 297 on Monday to tie Coastal Carolina at 601. Liberty extended its tournament lead to seven shots over Charleston Southern on the strength of its 7-under-par 281 in its second round. The Flames, who posted a 9-under-par 567 through two rounds, have all five of their golfers inside the field's top 15.

Charleston Southern (574), which dipped into red figures Monday as well with a 4-under-par 284, will be in the final pairing tomorrow with Liberty and third-place Campbell (578).

Tournament leader Austin James paces the Buccaneers at 8-under-par 136 (68-68). He has a three-shot advantage over Liberty's Isaiah Logue and Campbell's Jesper Svensson.

Much like he did in his opening round, Myles Creighton finished with a flurry of birdies to propel him up the individual leaderboard. The sophomore logged three of his five birdies on the day over the final five holes of his round to card a 1-over-par 73. His two-day total of 147 is tied for 15^th.

Nick Brediger is the next Highlander on the leaderboard, sitting in a tie for 27^th at 151 (74-77). He charted back-to-back birdies at the par-4 10^th and the par-4 11^th to jump-start his back nine.

Conner Hayden is in a tie for 30^th at 152 (78-74). The senior chalked up four birdies on his second 18, including two on par-5s. He is tied for third in the field in par-5 scoring at 4-under-par.

Making the biggest move on the day for RU was Conner Lewis, who trimmed seven shots off his first round to return a 1-over-par 73 to the clubhouse. His 153 (80-73) is tied for 34^th. Lewis tallied back-to-back birdies at the par-4 16^th and the par-3 17^th to end his round on a positive note. Gareth Sargent is tied for 40^th at 155 (78-77).

Radford is paired with Coastal Carolina for Tuesday's final round, which gets underway at 9:50 a.m. off the 10^th tee for the two teams.
