CALDWELL & MAGALHAES ADVANCE IN SINGLES PLAY AT ITA REGIONAL

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Alexandros Caldwell and Rodrigo Magalhaes opened the 2017 ITA Atlantic Regional with a pair of singles wins in the round of 128 on the second day of the regional, Friday afternoon at the Cook Tennis Center.

Caldwell picked up a win over William & Mary's Louis Newman 6-1, 5-7, 6-4. He will face the No. 12 seed Aziz KiJametovic on Saturday in the second round of main draw singles.

Magalhaes followed with a hard fought 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (3) win over the No. 17 seed Abraham Asaba of Virginia Tech. Day three will see Magalhaes take on Richmond's Matthew Fernandez.

The duo teamed up in doubles action, dropping 8-6 match to the No. 5 doubles seed of Jason Kros and Asaba.

Caldwell and Magalhaes return to action on Saturday in the second round of singles play.
