ROCK HILL, S.C. – Radford moved to atop the Big South standings after picking up a 2-0 Saturday night victory at Winthrop on a pair of Victor Valls' goals as the Highlanders increased their winning streak to three straight.

Valls' first two goals on the year gave the redshirt sophomore his first career multi-goal match. The Barcelona, Spain native becomes the seventh different Highlander to find the back of the net in 2017 and the second to collect a multi-goal match.

On a night in which the Highlanders were credited with 28 shots and eight on frame, Valls made the most of his four shots.

Taking seven shots in the first 30 minutes, Radford's first goal came as Myles Yorke played a long ball to Sivert Daehlie beyond midfield. Daehlie dribbled, sending a through ball to Valls in the middle of the box. Valls fired past Kenneth Perkinson to the right corner for the opening goal in the 33rd minute.

The Highlanders received six corners in the opening 45 minutes, only managing one goal on two shots on frame.

Dominating the second half, Radford took 19 shots as the Highlanders looked to find another goal in the must-win conference match.

Radford's second goal of the match came in the 76th minute as Daehlie found Valls one more time. Once again, Valls beat the goalkeeper right as the ball deflected off the cleat of an Eagle defender.

The Highlander attack did not let up, taking five shots in the final 10 minutes as Kieran Roberts and Neil Martorana had attempts on goal, including a Martorana shot that hit the crossbar.

With the 2-0 win, Radford collected its first win at Winthrop since 2011. The Highlanders take a 17-16-4 edge in the all-time series.
