MEN’S GOLF MOVES UP TO PLACE FIFTH AT HUMMINGBIRD INTERCOLLEGIATE

SAPPHIRE, N.C. – The Highlanders men's golf team moved up one spot in the final round to finish fifth in the Hummingbird Intercollegiate, which was suspended in the middle of round two due to darkness, but the tournament concluded on Tuesday evening.

The Highlanders finished round two on Tuesday morning and were in sixth place. Radford was tied for fourth place at the end of the first round after shooting a 292. Following the second round, Radford cut their play down by six strokes.

Myles Creighton finished one-over through the tournament after having six birdies in the first round with a three-under score. The senior had only three bogeys but no birdies in the second round and had an even score through he first two rounds. He tallied three more birdies, but finished one-over in the final round. The finish put him in a tie for 10^th in the individual leaderboards.

Ben Ramsey, Peter Gasperini and Ryan Ahrens all finished three rounds tied in 37^th with five other competitors. Ahrens had a team-high 13 birdies as 11 of them came in the final two rounds. He shot a one-under in the third round, which propelled him 30 spots for the 37^th place finish.

Ramsey also moved up 14 spots after round two and finished the tournament with a 10-over. Gasperini added three strokes to his third round, which gave him a 10-over finish for all rounds. Griffin Jones had his best score in the final round shooting a three-over (74). He tallied three birdies in round three.

Radford finished ahead of 13 teams as two of them were Big South schools in Presbyterian and Charleston Southern. However, Gardner-Webb won the tournament and maintained a first place finish throughout each round. The Runnin' Bulldogs final score was four-over (856).
