- Vanderbilt heads back to Historic Memorial Gymnasium after dropping games to Virginia and Seton Hall at the NIT Season Tip-Off in Brooklyn, N.Y. this past week
- The Highlanders are looking to string together back-to-back victories for the first time this season
SERIES HISTORY
- Tuesday night marks the first ever meeting between the Radford and Vanderbilt men's basketball programs
- In its history, Vanderbilt is a perfect 10-0 against current members of the Big South Conference
- A 44-80 loss at No. 2 Kentucky on November 23rd, 2011 was the only time the Highlanders have faced a current member of the SEC under Head Coach Mike Jones
HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Record: 3-2 (0-0 Big South)
- Radford's domination in bench scoring continued when they outscored the Dukes, 29-12, on Saturday. That brings the combined season total to 187-75
- Sophomore Donald Hicks set season highs in points scored in back-to-back games with 15 at Elon and 16 against James Madison. He's also averaging 5.0 rebounds per game from the shooting guard position
- The Highlanders' defense has been a strength so far this season. They currently rank fourth in the Big South with 71.2 points allowed per game and second in the conference with 4.2 blocks per contest
- Redshirt freshman Carlik Jones continues to prove he's the real deal. Through five games, he leads the Highlanders in scoring with 12.8 points per game. He even came close to recording his first double-double at Elon with eight points and eight rebounds
- Junior forward Ed Polite, Jr. lived up to his preseason billing with a stat sheet-stuffing performance against JMU. He posted 17 points, six rebounds, three assists, three blocks and two steals
- Sophomore forward Devonnte Holland had never recorded more than one block in a single game, but he's tallied two blocks in each of his last two appearances
SCOUTING THE COMMODORES
- Record: 2-4 (0-0 SEC)
- In the SEC Preseason Media Poll, the Commodores were picked to finish 7th in the 14-team conference
- Senior guard-forward Matthew Fisher-Davis was named First Team Preseason All-SEC by the coaches and Second Team Preseason All-SEC by the media
- Head Coach Bryce Drew is in his second at the helm of the Commodores after posting a 19-16 record last year
- The Commodores are led by Fisher-Davis who is averaging 13.8 points and 6.0 rebounds per game
- Senior forward Jeff Roberson (13.2 ppg, 9.3 rpg) and senior guard Riley LeChance (10.8 ppg) join Fisher-Davis in double-digit scoring
- Vanderbilt is averaging 67 points per game, five less than the 72 ppg they're allowing on defense. Much of that is a result of some cold shooting – 39.5% from the field and 30.5% from 3-point range
- They are 2-1 in front of their home crowd so far this season after going 11-5 last year
