VARGA AND SALA TO PLAY FOR DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP IN WF INVITE

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Radford's doubles tandem of Matko Varga and Carlos Sala will play for the B1 Doubles Championships in the Wake Forest Invite on Sunday as the Highlanders continued their strong showing in the invite.

Varga and Sala defeated UNC Asheville's Reese Daly and Ed Colclough in the semifinals with a 7-5 victory. The duo will face Davidson's Jack Riazzi and Yash Parikh in the championship match.

Looking to advance to the C3 Singles Bracket championship final, Varga dropped a 6-3, 6-3 match to Collin Thomson of Charlotte. Varga will now face UNC Asheville's Andrew Sinai in the third-place match.

Robin Calais will play for seventh-place in the C3 Singles bracket after falling to Vlad Anghel of East Carolina 6-4, 7-6 (4).

After receiving a consolation quarterfinal bye in the C1 Singles Bracket, Sala fell to Michael Bass of Charlotte 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 in the semifinals. Sala will now face Liberty's Max Borcuti in the 11^th place match on Sunday.

Michiel Meekers also received a quarterfinal bye in the C2 Singles consolation bracket. Meekers dropped his semifinal match to UNC Asheville's Ed Colclough 7-5, 6-2. He will face Olly Cull of UNC Asheville in the 11^th place to be played on Sunday.

Rounding out doubles action, the tandem of Calais and Meekers finished in seventh place in the A3 Doubles bracket after falling to NC State's Georgiy Malyshev and Collin Shick by the score of 6-2.

Radford wraps up the fall portion of its schedule and the Wake Forest Invite on Sunday morning.
