FARMVILLE, Va. – Radford collected its 10th Big South win for the third consecutive season in a 74-34 thrashing of Commonwealth foe Longwood, marking the first time the Highlanders have won double-digit league games in three straight seasons since 1993-96.

Longwood raced out to an early 5-0 lead, but a Destinee Walker steal and layup kick started a Radford 9-0 run. Janayla White added back-to-back layups for four of her eight first quarter points.

Following layups by Rachael Ross and White, Radford controlled a 17-11 lead after the opening 10 minutes. Following White's layup to beat the buzzer, the Highlanders used a 22-6 run to push its lead to 18 points (35-17). During the run, Johnson and Walker added six points each.

Coming out of halftime, the two squads combined to score 12 points in the first 6:43 of the second half.

After two straight Ciarah Bennett layups, Radford scored 14 consecutive points leading into the final quarter. Johnson started the run with four points, while Claudia Quevedo drained back-to-back transition 3-pointers.

QUOTABLE
  • "I thought this was a great team performance. I am really pleased with our defensive effort as most of Longwood's offensive possessions were not easy. We had contributions from everyone tonight and a lot of different lineups on the floor that worked well together, which is progress for us. We needed a good team win on the road and we got that tonight." ~ Radford head coach Mike McGuire
