RADFORD FALLS 5-2 IN BIG SOUTH OPENER AT UNC ASHEVILLE

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The Radford men's tennis team fell, 5-2, in its Big South opening match against UNC Asheville on Sunday at the Asheville Racquet Club.

The Highlanders fell behind early as Rodrigo Magalhaes and Robin Calais dropped their singles match. Samuel Taylor defeated James Massie to give Radford a point in the competition.

Alexandros Caldwell and Andrew Sinai dropped their singles matches, while Janken Thoen defeated Andrew Sinai in the final singles competition of the match.

"This was a tough team loss today," Taylor said. "Hopefully we can learn from our play today. Our freshmen will gain more experience and we'll start winning these type matches."

With the wins, Taylor has now collected two singles wins on the season and Thoen collected his first in the conference opener.

Radford hosts Davidson on Saturday for its home opener at 1 p.m. non-confernece contest.
