HIGHLANDERS DROP 5-2 HOME OPENER TO GWU IN LEAGUE PLAY

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team dropped its home opener 5-2 to Gardner-Webb in Big South action Sunday afternoon at the Radford University Tennis Complex.

Radford opened the match hot, taking the hard-fought doubles point. Alexandros Caldwell and Matko Varga teamed up for a 6-4 victory in No. 2 doubles, while Janken Thoen and Samuel Taylor collected a 7-6 win in No. 3 action.

Thoen won the lone singles match on the day for the Highlanders; taking a 6-3, 6-1 win over Ross Gilbert.

Rodrigo Magalhaes dropped a close one in No.1 singles, falling 5-7, 7-5, 6-1.

Radford returns to action on Friday in a non-conference match against Wingate at 3:30 p.m.
