RADFORD TAKES 4-3 DECISION OVER IN-STATE FOE JMU

RADFORD, Va. – Radford picked up its second home of the season with a 4-3 decision over in-state foe James Madison, Wednesday afternoon.

The Dukes captured the doubles point, but Janken Thoen and Samuel Taylor teamed up for a 6-3 win in No. 3 doubles to take the first doubles match on the day.

Alexandros Caldwell got the Highlanders on the board with a dominating 6-0, 6-4 win over Sebastian Salinas in No. 2 singles. Janken Thoen followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win in No. 5 singles to give Radford a 2-1 lead.

Following James Madison knotting the match at two, Robin Calais pushed the lead to 3-2 with his second straight win, taking a 7-5, 6-4 decision over Theophile Lanthiez in No. 4 singles.

Samuel Taylor sealed the Radford win with a hard fought 7-6 (7-3), 7-5 win in No. 3 singles.

Radford returns to action on Friday with a two-match slate in the Tar Heel State. The Highlanders will take on UNC Charlotte at 9 a.m. and will travel to Pfeiffer for a 3 p.m. contest.
