THOEN & VARGA COLLECT WINS; RADFORD FALLS 5-2 TO CHARLOTTE

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Janken Thoen and Matko Varga collected wins as Radford dropped its last non-conference match of the season 5-2 to UNC Charlotte at the Charlotte Indoor Tennis Club, Friday afternoon.

Thoen picked up his second straight win with a 7-5, 6-3 decision over Jensen Martin in No. 5 singles. The senior is 6-4 in his last 10 matches, improving to 7-7 on the season.

Varga collected his second collegiate win with a strong 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win in No. 6 singles over Josh Aubrey.

Robin Calais dropped a tough 7-5, 7-5 decision to Oriol Puig Forne in No. 4 singles.

UNC Charlotte captured the doubles point, while Alexandros Caldwell and Calais were winning 5-3 in No. 2 doubles, before the match was left unfinished due to the 49ers collecting the point.

Radford returns to Big South play on Saturday, hosting Presbyterian for a 2 p.m. match.
