RADFORD HANDS PC FIRST BIG SOUTH LOSS WITH 4-3 WIN

RADFORD, Va. – Trailing 3-1, Radford won the final three matches on the day to collect its first home Big South win of the season with a 4-3 decision over Presbyterian, Saturday afternoon.

"I have told my guys as a team, they were getting incrementally better with each match. The win today against an undefeated Presbyterian team in Big South play shows just that," said head coach Mike Anderson. "They have learned through adversity how to win and I am very proud of their recent efforts."

The Highlanders captured the doubles point right away, taking No. 1 and 2 doubles. Alexandros Caldwell and Robin Calais captured the first match in doubles, taking a 6-3 decision in No. 2 doubles. Radford took the point as Rodrigo Magalhaes and Matko Varga teamed up for a 6-4 win in No. 1 doubles.

Presbyterian fought back, winning the first three singles matches. The Blue Hose collected wins in No. 4, 5 and 6 singles.

Down 3-1, Magalhaes pulled the Highlanders within one point, taking a 7-5 (7-6), 6-4 victory over Alexander Lykou. The win marked his second in Big South play.

Caldwell knotted the match at three with a 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 comeback win over Brandon Mills in No. 2 singles

Samuel Taylor handed Radford the 4-3 victory with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win in No. 3 singles over Diego Manzanas for his third Big South win on the season.

Radford returns to action on Sunday, hosting Liberty for a 1 p.m. matchup.
