RADFORD, Va. – Using goals by Sivert Daehlie and Kieran Roberts, Radford's defense did the rest of the work as the Highlanders collected their second shutout of the season with a 2-0 victory over Howard on Saturday to move back above .500.

Combing for nine of Radford's 10 goals on the season, Daehlie provided the game winning goal in the first half and Roberts followed suit with a penalty kick in the second to seal the win.

The first 30 minutes of the 90-minute match of aggressive play saw four shots from the Highlanders and two by the Bison.

In the 32nd minute, newly entered Max Edwards fired a shot from inside the box on far side that clipped a Bison defender. The deflection changed the trajectory of the ball, which found its way to the foot of Daehlie on near frame. The junior tapped the ball in for his fourth goal of the season and third straight.

Missing two wide open kicks in the first half, Roberts got his revenge early in the second half as Howard was whistled for a foul inside the box following a Fraser Colmer corner kick in the 53rd minute. The foul resulted in a penalty kick that Roberts drilled home for his fifth goal and second off a penalty kick.

Looking to pad the 2-0 lead, Evan Szklennik and Roberts had two breakaway attempts off Bison turnovers, but Carlos Caro made back-to-back strong saves in the 81st and 82nd minutes.

Radford's backline of Myles Yorke, Yury Hardman, Noy Daabul and Colmer teamed up with goalkeeper Nicolas Mertzokat to hold Howard to only five shots, including three in the second half.
