The Colonels (5-4) took an early 3-0 lead midway through the third using five hits to score three runs. However, the Highlanders answered in the bottom half of the inning as Brianna Mills hit a moon shot to right center field to cut the deficit to two. Radford was not done scoring in the inning as Marissa Gagliano, who reached on a one-out triple, was driven in on a Sofia Tapia groundout to second base.

Radford tied the game at three in the fourth inning with another leadoff home run. This one came off the bat of Maggie Rowe. The next inning, Mills continued the hot hitting with a leadoff single to left field. She moved to third on a Gagliano double with one out. Mundy found some open space through the left side, which plated Mills and gave Radford the 4-3 lead.
