HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Radford women's lacrosse team battled back from a late four-goal deficit to force the first overtime in program history, but UC Davis found its golden goal to hand Radford an 11-12 loss on Monday evening.

Trailing 7-11 with 6:49 remaining in regulation, the Highlanders (3-5) pulled together and showed a lot of determination. They strung together four straight goals, capped by junior attacker Adrian Rius' fifth of the day with just over two minutes ago, to tie the game for the first time since the 27:26 mark of the second half.

UC Davis (4-3) dominated possession in the overtime period, however, winning the draw control and taking three shots before a fourth attempt finally bounced into the back of the net to end the game.

Rius was a force on the offensive end all day, opening the scoring less than two minutes into the contest to give the Highlanders a 1-0 lead. The Aggies answered moments later, but goals were hard to come by in a largely defensive first half.

Junior midfielder Callie Bonnel and Rius each scored in the final minute and 13 seconds of the period to give Radford a 5-3 lead heading into halftime.

The floodgates opened up in the second half, but unfortunately for Radford, it was mainly for the visiting Aggies. Six straight goals in a 10-minute span transformed their two-goal deficit into a four-goal lead of 9-5 by the 18-minute mark.

Strong drives to the net by junior attacker Juliette Ruland and Bonnel got Radford right back into the thick of things, but the Aggies managed to get two of their own to bring the score to 11-7 where the game would really kick into high gear.

The Highlanders' comeback effort was only possible thanks to sophomore goalie Jenny Davis, who came up with 14 huge saves and a .538 save percentage.

Rius led all scorers with five goals on only six shots and won a team-high five draw controls. Junior attacker Emma Rogers distributed a team-high three assists while sophomore attacker Lindsey Carroll followed with two.

Taylor Cuenin led the Aggies with four goals, Amanda Outcalt scored three while Shannon Cross and Kate Fellner each netted two. Fellner also had four assists as the team's primary ball handler behind the cage.
