CONWAY, S.C. – Radford faced former Big South foe Coastal Carolina for the first time since 2016 as the two teams concluded the Johnny Gardner Law Group Tournament with the Chanticleers handing the Highlanders a 13-7 loss.

After managing only 11 combined hits in the first two games of the tournament, Radford collected nine on the day. Colby Higgerson and Kyle Butler led the Highlanders with two hits each.

Higgerson added two RBIs on the day, while Luke Wise provided a three-run blast in the second to give Radford an early 3-0 lead in the top of the second.

Coastal Carolina added 13 consecutive runs on 12 hits, three of which came off home runs. Parker Chavers knotted the game at three with a solo shot in the fourth and Kevin Woodall, Jr., gave the Chanticleers the lead for good with a two-run shot in the seventh. The final home run came off the bat of Matt Beaird as the grand slam extended the Chants lead to 12-3.

Radford added four runs in the ninth as Mason Scoville lined a two-out single into left field for his first collegiate hit and Luke Belanger followed with a four-pitch walk. Higgerson's two RBIs came via a first pitch triple to the right field corner.

Higgerson scored one batter late on a Butler RBI single. Following a Spencer Horwitz walk and Andrew Szamski hit by pitch, Radford loaded the bases for Garrett Matheny as he earned a RBI walk for the final run of the game.
