BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – It was a night to remember for the Radford women's lacrosse team as juniors Callie Bonnel and Adrian Rius provided two historic performances to fuel a 22-14 victory over Gardner-Webb on Wednesday.

Bonnel was sensational in the attacking third, scoring a program record eight goals while supplying five assists to total another program record and tie the Big South record for points with 13. Entering the game with 34 goals on the season, the Mechanicsville, Md. native now has a career-high 42.

Rius set a program record with 10 draw controls against Fresno State on March 29, but she shattered that record. Against the Runnin' Bulldogs, the Boca Raton, Fla. native set another school record and even broke the Big South record with an incredible 16 draw controls. For reference, the previous Big South record was 13 by Campbell's Loren Day.

She scored a career-high seven goals to boot. Both players tied with 13 shots taken, setting yet another program record in the process.

Gardner-Webb came out firing, scoring the first two goals of the game to go ahead 2-0 early. It was Bonnel that gave Radford its first goal of the night with 27:24 still on the clock in the first half.

The Highlanders and Runnin' Bulldogs went back-and-forth for the majority of the half. There were seven ties while Radford took the lead twice and Gardner-Webb jumped out in front five different times.

Even though GWU took an 11-9 lead into halftime, Bonnel was always there to keep the team in it, scoring six of her goals and adding two of her assists before the break.

The second half was all Radford as four goals in the first five minutes flipped a two-goal deficit into a two-goal lead and the Highlanders were off and running from there.

Rius scored six of her seven goals in the final 26:44 while the defense buckled down and held the Runnin' Bulldogs to just three goals as a team. After scoring their first two of the night in less than three minutes, it took them nearly 15 minutes to score two in the second half.

Redshirt sophomore goalie Hannah Rosen was a huge part of that defensive turnaround. With the Highlanders struggling to stop the GWU offense, Head Coach Haley Marvine made the decision to put Rosen in the game with 45 minutes left to play. In those 45 minutes, Rosen made 10 saves to post a sterling .556 save percentage.

Two more goals in the final minute lifted Radford's total to 22, marking a new season-high.
