RADFORD, Va. – The Radford softball team will travel to Cullowhee, N.C., for its final midweek contest of the regular season, facing Western Carolina in a doubleheader on Wednesday. The first game is set for 3 p.m., while the nightcap is set for 5 p.m.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Radford (27-15) has a current five game winning streak for the third time this season with two wins over Norfolk State on Wednesday and a series sweep against Gardner-Webb last weekend.
- The Highlanders outscored their competition 46-6 in the last five games and had two games end in five innings.
- With the offensive explosion, Radford totaled 51 hits last week and now has 303 hits this season.
- Marissa Gagliano enters with a team-high 50 hits and a .373 batting average, which ranks seventh in the Big South.
- She has a .475 on base percentage that stands at third in the conference.
- Senior Maggie Rowe has tallied a team-high 36 RBIs and 21 of them have come with two outs. Her 36 RBIs has her ranked eighth in the Big South.
- Rowe is hitting .407 in the eight midweek games with two home runs and 10 RBIs.
- Freshman Brianna Mills has tallied a team-high six extra-base hits in midweek contests. She is also hitting .348 with eight RBIs.
- As a team, Radford has scored 50 runs on 59 hits against midweek competition.
- Hannah Medlam continues to hit the ball well with 19 hits over the last 12 games including a six hit weekend against the Runnin' Bulldogs.
- Kayla Huffman (8-4) leads the team with a 2.00 ERA and has a team-high 80 strikeouts.
- Abby Morrow (17-9) continues strong work in her senior season ranking seventh in the nation averaging 0.80 walks per seven innings pitched, while the team ranks 19th with a 3.43:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
- Radford keeps climbing up the RPI ladder and is now ranked 74th in the latest polls that were released on Monday afternoon.
SCOUTING WESTERN CAROLINA
- Western Carolina (14-29, 1-11 SoCon) has struggled in conference play, but has a 13-18 record against teams outside the SoCon.
- They have notable wins against UCF, Penn State, UNC Wilmington and two wins against Winthrop.
- The Catamounts' lone conference win came against Samford on April 14. The win kickstarted a small run as the team has won five of their last 10 games, but dropped three straight to Furman last weekend.
- WCU has struggled offensively hitting .229 as a team with no players batting over .300 for the season.
- The closest player with a .300 batting average is Ashlyn Long, who leads the team with a .291 average. She has seven doubles and six RBIs.
- Erica Hayes has 40 hits with six doubles, two triples and two home runs.
- The Catamounts have a 5.75 team ERA and opponents are hitting .322 when facing WCU pitching.
- Haley Brogden enters with a team-best 4.49 ERA and a team high 65 strikeouts through 87.1 innings pitched. She has also allowed 44 walks this season.
