BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The 2018 season was brought to an end on Saturday afternoon as the No. 5 Radford women's lacrosse team fell to No. 4 Campbell, 23-11, in the Big South Tournament quarterfinals at Barker-Lane Stadium.

The Camels got off to a fast start, taking a 3-0 lead within the first seven minutes of the game thanks to a quick hat trick by Melissa Placek. Junior attacker Adrian Rius finally got the Highlanders on the board at the 22:36 mark with a rocket down the middle, but Campbell responded with four more goals to make it 7-1 with 17:18 to go in the half.

Back-to-back free position goals by junior midfielder Callie Bonnel kept the Radford offense going, but the Camels continued to find the back of the net and eventually pushed their lead to 11-3 with just over six minutes on the clock.

The Highlanders rallied and found their footing just before half though, scoring the final three goals before halftime to put themselves within striking distance at 11-6.

That momentum carried into the second half as sophomore Colleen O'Connell scored to cut the deficit all the way down to four before Campbell once again took over.

Seven of the next 10 goals came from the Camels, stretching their lead to a game-high 10 at 19-9 with 20:15 to go. Radford gave it their all with the season on the line, but it wasn't meant to be and the game ended with the final score of 23-11.

Rius led the offensive effort with four goals to bring her total to a career-high 45 on the year. Bonnel finished with three goals while O'Connell contributed two of her own.

Junior attacker Emma Rogers found teammates in front of the cage twice for two assists while her and junior midfielder Juliette Ruland each had one goal.

Redshirt sophomore Hannah Rosen and sophomore Jenny Davis split time in goal. Rosen made six saves while Davis made two.

Radford concludes its third season of competition as a program with a 6-11 record overall, including a 3-4 record in Big South play that sets a new school record for single-season conference wins.
