FARMVILLE, Va. – Radford matched season highs in runs and hits as seven Highlanders tallied two hits each in a 18-4 offensive explosion over Longwood Friday evening in the Big South series lid-lifter.

The Highlanders' 18 runs came on 15 hits, 14 walks, three home runs and three wild pitches. Radford's previous 18 runs and 15 hits came against High Point in the series finale on March 25.

Of the seven Radford players to record two hits each, Matt Roth went 2 for 4 at the plate with a career-high six RBIs, walking twice on the night. Roth's previous career best was three RBIs on two occasions.

Colby Higgerson and Spencer Horwitz followed with three RBIs apiece. The trio were responsible for all three of Radford's home runs.

Radford's slugfest began with a bang as Kyle Butler and Horwitz opened the game with a pair of hits. The duo would cross the plate as Roth sent his fifth home run on the season over the left-center field fence.

The Highlanders added two more runs in the second as Radford loaded the bases with two outs. Straton Podaras led off the frame with a walk, while Butler followed with his second hit in as many innings and Higgerson earned a nine-pitch walk.

Horwitz and Roth earned back-to-back walks on five pitches each as the easy RBIs pushed Radford's early lead to 5-0.

The Highlander offense continued to produce as they put up five runs in the third on four hits. As the first two batters reached base, Luke Belanger's sacrifice bunt set up a Carlin Christian two-RBI single up the middle for his second two-RBI game on the season.

For the first time on the season, Radford hit two home runs in an inning as Higgerson and Horwitz went yard back-to-back. Higgerson launched a two-run blast to left field for his first round-tripper of the season. Following was Horwitz with a solo shot off the right field foul pole to match Roth with his fifth on the season.

Radford's big inning on the night came via a six-run, three-hit fourth inning. Radford's first run came on a double-steal rundown play. The Highlanders loaded the bases again with Higgerson and Horwitz earning back-to-back RBI walks as Radford collected three in the win.

Roth's career night continued after the pair of walks as the junior singled through the left side for two more RBIs, increasing his total to six on the night.

The last time a Highlander drove in six runs in a game came on March 20, 2016 as Butler plated six runs in a 13-2 win over future Big South opponent USC Upstate.

Leading 15-0, Radford's next three runs came on wild pitches. Longwood added its first run in the fourth on a Ryan Schull RBI single as the Lancers finally broke through the hit column in the frame.

Making his first Friday night start, freshman Hunter Williams was sensational. The left-hander limited the Lancers to five hits over 7.0 innings. With his second quality start on the season, Williams earned his first collegiate start with four strikeouts over the span.

Daniel Brandon came out of the Lancer bullpen in the fifth, limiting the Highlanders to only one hit, holding Radford scoreless for the final four frames. Brandon tossed 4.2 innings, striking out three and walking three in relief.

Longwood plated two runs in the seventh on a Antwaun Tucker home run and one in the ninth on a RBI ground out from Grant Keller.
