RADFORD, Va. – The Radford softball team will wrap up the regular season with a weekend series against Charleston Southern at the CSU Softball Complex. The series opener begins on Friday at 4 p.m., and the final day of play features a doubleheader on Saturday at 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.

HIGHLANDER HIGHLIGHTS
- Radford (31-16, 11-7 Big South) looks for its fifth Big South series win of the 2018 season. If Radford can win one game against Charleston Southern it will clinch a No. 3 seed in the Big South Tournament.
- The Highlanders had a great month of April posting a 14-4 record with 110 runs scored on 158 hits.
- Radford also had a nine game winning streak, which was the longest this season, but it was snapped in the series finale with Presbyterian.
- Hannah Medlam led the way last month with a team-high 23 hits and a .397 batting average.
- 23 of Maggie Rowe's 42 RBIs can in the month of May. She also hit five home runs last month.
- Rowe's 42 RBI ranks inside the single-season top 10 at Radford, tied for ninth place.
- Marissa Gagliano has a team-best .372 batting average with a team-high 55 hits this season.
- Marissa Yow is riding a five game hitting streak, which is the longest of this season and her career.
- Kayla Huffman leads the team with 90 strikeouts, including 49 in Big South play. She has a 1.92 ERA.
- Abby Morrow is one win away from posting back-to-back-to-back 20 win seasons.
- The senior now ranks second in the nation averaging 0.80 walks per seven innings.
- Medlam's strong hitting showed up in conference play as well. She is batting .390 against Big South competition.
- Rowe, Hunter Mundy and Talia Douglas have a combined 44 RBIs in conference play.
SCOUTING CHARLESTON SOUTHERN
- Charleston Southern faced No. 12 South Carolina on Wednesday night. The Bucs were shutout 14-0.
- The Buccaneers are on the outside looking in for the Big South Tournament. If CSU sweeps the Highlanders then they will clinch a spot to play next weekend.
- However, the Bucs have lost their last 10 games they have played.
- Offensively, the team is second in the Big South with 53 long balls, which is only four behind league-leader Campbell.
- A large part of the offensive spurtability is provided by Jade Gandara, who has 13 home runs and is third in the Big South with a .391 batting average.
- CSU has a 4.31 ERA with 187 strikeouts. The team ERA is fifth in the conference.
