at Gardner-Webb – Friday, Oct. 18th @ 6 p.m.

  • Radford notched their first conference win over Hampton on Oct. 5th, sweeping the Pirates in three sets. 
  • The night before, the Highlanders squabbled with the Buccaneers to force a five-set bout. 
  • Stephanie Neast picked up her second double-double of the season against Charleston Southern with 20 kills and 10 digs. Jordan Coomes established a new season high in assists with 35 on the night. 
  • The Runnin' Bulldogs are currently on a five-game losing streak after dropping matches to Charleston Southern, Presbyterian, USC Upstate, UNC Asheville, and Winthrop. 
  • Kamille Jones was named interim head coach on August 2nd.
  • Team Leaders: Elizabeth Griffith—89 kills, Charissa Coleman—152 digs, Lauryn Rocassin—183 assists, Alexandria Roycraft—61 blocks, Hannah Donaldson and Coleman—13 service aces. 
  • The Eagles got back in the win column at Gardner-Webb last Friday, sweeping the competition in three sets. 
  • Winthrop will face the High Point Panthers before taking on the Highlanders, the Eagles are a perfect 7-0 at home. 
  • Friday night will feature the top two teams in the Big South in Winthrop and High Point and will be a battle of the only unbeaten teams in the conference.

at Vertcross Invitational – Friday Oct. 18
Where: Kenersville, N.C. (Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex)

Course Map: Women's | Men's
  • Radford is prepping for their second race in seven days after many racers set their personal records last week at the Royals Challenge.
  • The women's 6K race is set to start at 4:30 p.m. with Kayland Bond, Annsley Eckert, Chloe Phillips, Savannah Hoff, and Rhianna Reddinger competing for the Highlanders.
  • The men's 8K race is set to start right after the women's at 5:15 p.m. with all but two men racing, with senior Mak Casey returning after missing last week's race.
  • Radford is coming off a ninth-place finish by the women and a 16th place finish by the men at the Royals Challenge.
  • The race will feature many Big South opponents such as Winthrop and High Point for Radford to run up against before Big South Championships come in a couple weeks.

  • Radford begins a two-match Palmetto State road trip on Saturday when it takes on the Winthrop Eagles in Rock Hill.
  • The Highlanders are on a two-match win streak, outscoring their opponents by a 5-1 margin in wins over UNC Asheville and USC Upstate.
  • Mouhameth Thiam, Baye Djibril Faye and Victor Valls each scored for Radford in a 3-0 win over USC Upstate on Wednesday.
  • Pape Oumar Gueye continues to lead the Big South with six assists.
  • Joseba Incera had three saves against USC Upstate for his second clean sheet of the season.
  • Winthrop picked up its first conference win on Tuesday against Longwood.
  • Jogvan Jacbosen scored a pair of goals against the Lancers to secure a 2-1 win. Jacobsen leads the Eagles with three goals.
  • Sam Jones has 34 saves in seven appearances to lead the Eagles among goalkeepers.  
 
 WOMEN'S SOCCER
 

at Campbell – Saturday, Oct. 19 @ 1:30 p.m.

  • Radford begins a crucial two-match stretch that will play a big role in deciding if the Highlanders will host a first-round Big South Tournament match.
  • The first is in Buies Creek, N.C., on Saturday night against Campbell and the second is a Big South Tournament Final rematch with Gardner-Webb on Wednesday night at Cupp Stadium.
  • The Highlanders have scored nine goals in the last three contests averaging 3.3 scores per match. Gabi Paupst and Nelia Perez have scored seven of the nine goals and assisted on two of them.
  • Perez has notched four goals and one assist for nine points, while Paupst has tallied three scores and one assist for seven points.
  • Radford has taken 226 shots – good for 15.1 shots per game. The Highlanders have landed 97 shots on frame in 2019.
  • The defense has only allowed 0.73 goals per game, which ranks first in the Big South. The stifling defense also leads the league in shutouts with eight.
  • Campbell enters with a 9-3-2 record and a 5-1-1 Big South record – good for second place in the conference.
  • The Camels have outshot their opponents 33-14, racking up 2.36 goals per contest, ranking first in the Big South. Alexa Genas leads the team with 60 shots – more than half of the second leading shot taker – and nine goals and seven assists.
  • Five of Genas' goals have been in conference play and four assists have been as well.
 
 MEN'S TENNIS
 

at ITA Regionals – Thursday, Oct. 17 to Tuesday, Oct. 22
Where:
 Charlottesville, Va. (The Sheridan Snyder Tennis Center at the University of Virginia)
  • The Highlanders continue their fall season as they will group back together after Yevhen Sirous and Rodrigo Magalhaes' stellar performance at the ITA All-American Championships which ran from October 9th through October 13th.
  • Sirous and Magalhaes took down California (#16 doubles team in nation), while also playing competitive matches against Florida (#4 doubles team in nation) and Georgia (#41 doubles team in nation).
  • The Highlanders will compete in the Atlantic region for both doubles and singles competition. Finalists for the tournament will qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.
  • Freshman Demi Taramonlis and transfer Karl Katlaps will look to continue their success that they saw at the UNCG Hidden Duals, where they both picked up their first singles victories as Highlanders.
  • At the UNCG Hidden Duals, five of eight Radford players took singles victories against Big South foe Campbell.
