HIGHLANDERS UNVEIL 2019-20 INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SCHEDULE

RADFORD, Va. – Director of Track and Field Shelli Sayers has announced the 2019-20 schedule for both indoor and outdoor track. The Highlanders will participate in 17 meets this season while also hosting the Big South Indoor Championships in Blacksburg, Va. from February 28th – 29th.

The Highlanders highlight the indoor season by hosting the Big South Indoor Championships this year at the Rector Field House in Blacksburg, Va. For a majority of the indoor season, the team will primarily stay in-state for its meets with visits to Roanoke, VMI, Virginia Tech, and Liberty.

"We are thrilled to host the indoor championships this season," Coach Sayers added. "This is a great opportunity for our community and supporters to watch us compete at the highest level."

The indoor season starts with a warm-up visit to Roanoke on Dec. 7th before the season fully amps up beginning at the Keydet Invitational on January 17th. The Highlanders stay close by for the Hokie Invitational in Blacksburg January 24th before heading back to Roanoke for the Division One Challenge on February 1st.

Radford will fill it's February slate with a visit to VMI again for the VMI Winter Relays running from February 7th through the 8th. The Darius Dixon Invite in Lynchburg, Va. highlights Valentine's Day weekend for the Radford team, before they return home for one last regular season match in Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Invitational on February 21st.

Should the team have any performers reach the NCAA National Championships, that tournament will be held out in Albuquerque, N.M. to finish off the indoor season.

The Highlanders will kick off the outdoor season with a trip to Richmond for the Fred Hardy Invitational in Richmond, Va. The team will then visit North Carolina for back to back weeks for competitions at the Phoenix and Duke Invitational on April 4th and April 17th respectively.

To finish off the regular season the team visits Charlottesville, Va. for the Virginia Grand Prix and then travels back down to Durham for the Duke Twilight. The Indoor Big South Championships will be hosted by High Point this year, during the week of May 13th through 15th.

Capping of the year will be the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds will be hosted at Lexington, Ky. From May 28th through May 30th, with the NCAA Outdoor Championship being hosted in Austin, Tx. From June 10th through June 13th.

"We have an extremely challenging outdoor schedule to prepare us for a successful outdoor season," Sayers commented about the exciting year ahead.
