RADFORD HITS THE COURT TO BEGIN 2019 CAMPAIGN WITH NORTH CAROLINA A&T

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team opens the 2019 season against North Carolina A&T on Saturday at noon.

STARTING ON THE RIGHT FOOT
The Highlanders started the last two seasons with victories, both on the road against Fairmont State and South Carolina State. This will be the first time the Highlanders play a season opener at home in over a decade. The Highlanders and Aggies last matched up in 2015 where the Highlanders took a decisive 7-0 victory at home.

2018 SEASON IN REVIEW
Through the 2018 season the Highlanders collected a 10 victories with strong wins over teams like Toledo, Xavier and Delaware. Among the many new faces joining the team, the duo of senior Alexandros Caldwell and Rodrigo Magalhaes return bringing a strong doubles record of 12-6 from 2018. The two also combined for a 35-20 singles record. Matko Varga also returns after finishing with a 15-13 singles record, adding more experience to a young squad.

NEW FACES JOIN THE HIGHLANDERS
Radford put together a strong offseason adding many fresh faces to the team. First season head coach Rob Bareford brought a new energy to the team by adding five freshman and one transfer. Yevhen Sirous transferred from Detroit Mercy bringing with him a 6-2 record.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Radford will hit the road for the first time in 2019 for a big matchup against UNC Greensboro on Friday, February 8^th, at noon.
