RADFORD, Va. – Welcome to the Radford Roundup, where fans can find out all the information they need on upcoming Radford Athletics events taking place between Tuesday, Feb. 19th through Thursday, Feb 21st.
 


 
 MEN'S TENNIS


at HAMPTON – Tues., February 19 @ 11:30 a.m.
Where: Hampton, Va. (Virginia Beach Tennis & Country Club)
Records: Radford (3-1) | Hampton (0-4, 0-2 Big South)
  • Radford returns to action with a match at Hampton on Tuesday. The Highlanders are coming off a sweep of Bluefield College on Thursday.
  • Michiel Meekers and Matko Varga are still unbeaten so far in singles play combining for an 8-0 record.
  • Varga is also unbeaten in doubles matches. He is 3-0 when playing with Andres Silva and is 1-0 when competing with Pierre-Olivier Lassalle.
  • As a team Radford is 19-5 in singles matches and 10-2 in doubles matches.
  • Hampton enters the contest with an 0-4 record, including two matches against conference opponents. The Pirates still have yet to win a point in their four matches played.

at COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON – Thur., February 21 @ 6 p.m.

  • Radford carries a 4-1 record into the Holy City Showdown in Charleston, S.C., hosted by College of Charleston.
  • The Highlanders defeated Howard and Rhode Island twice and UNCW once at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Seahawk Softball Bash. The Highlanders outscored those three teams 46-14.
  • Sydney Fisher and Hannah Medlam tore it up offensively last weekend. The duo combined for 18 hits, a double, two triples and 10 RBIs.
  • Maggie Rowe tallied four doubles and four RBIs on opening weekend. She enters with a .353 batting average.
  • The Cougars started out the year on the right foot going 4-1 at the Cougar Classic with wins over Purdue, Pittsburgh, Wichita State and Central Michigan. Their only loss came to Virginia Tech. 
  • C of C defeated Northern Iowa to open the Osprey/Dolphin Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla., but dropped four straight contests.
  • Lexee Emanuel leads the team with a .414 batting average and 12 hits. Izzy Berouty carries the Cougars in the circle with 25 innings pitched and a 2.52 ERA. However, the pitching staff as a whole only has 19 strikeouts.
