FISHER'S BIG NIGHT CARRIES RADFORD PAST COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sydney Fisher started the scoring and ended it with three total RBIs that helped Radford secure a 5-1 road victory over College of Charleston on Thursday night at Patriots Point Softball Stadium.

Along with her three RBIs, Fisher went 3-for-4 with a double. It wasn't all Fisher as Destiny Freeman had the big swing with a solo home run in the fourth inning.

Radford (5-1) took a while to get the offense going, but it was Fisher's first RBI of the night in the third inning that gave the Highlanders the early 1-0 lead. She drove in Hunter Mundy, who led off the inning with a double to left field. The Highlanders tagged on two more runs with the Freeman home run and an RBI double by Hunter Mundy in the next frame that pushed the lead to 3-0.

College of Charleston (5-6) picked up its lone run of the game later in the sixth to make it a 3-1 game. The run came with two outs and was the lone blemish on an otherwise perfect night for Kayla Huffman. Huffman went the distance for the Highlanders with five strikeouts, no walks and five hits allowed.

Cougar relief pitcher, Drayton Siegling, kept the Highlanders scoreless over two frames, but Fisher decided to add some insurance in the seventh with a single that scored two more runs for the Highlanders and pushed the lead to 5-1.
