CALDWELL LEADS MEN’S TENNIS TO 5-2 VICTORY OVER DUQUESNE

BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team picked up a big-time 5-2 win over Duquesne on Saturday morning in Blacksburg.

Due to the weather, the Highlanders and Dukes played inside at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center on the campus of Virginia Tech. The two teams played singles first due to the amount of courts reserved.

Yevhen Sirous opened up the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Chris Corrao on court 1. Meekers increased the Highlander lead to two as he picked up a victory on court 4.

The Dukes answered with the next match that finished as Alejandro Rodriguez defeated Pierre-Olivier Lassalle on court 5. Matko Varga continued his winning ways with a 6-2, 6-4 victory on court 6. The next Highlander point would seal the victory for Radford.

Alexandros Caldwell was the man to seal the victory. He made it a 4-1 match with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Alex Mascioli on court 3.

With the match already in hand, Rodrigo Magalhaes made his first appearance back in three matches, but fell on court 2. He the picked up a doubles victory with Sirous and so would the rest of the doubles partners to seal the 5-2 victory.
