ORANGEBURG, S.C. – The Radford women's tennis team dropped its first match of the season on Wednesday afternoon against South Carolina State, 4-3, in Orangeburg, S.C.

Radford took a 1-0 lead at the end of the doubles competition when Drousile Dzeubou and Tyler Blalock clinched the point with a 6-2 win. Malin Falk and Katey Fruehauf picked up the first win of the day with a 6-1 victory on court 2.

Dzeubou carried that momentum into the singles round as she gave Radford its second point with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Ikram Rassif on court 2. However, things started to heat up for the Bulldogs when Izabel Nikolaeva defeated Fruehauf and Blalock lost to Divya Murali on court 4. The two loses tied the match up at two.

Lasya Patnaik defeated Falk on court 3 and took the deciding point, 4-2. Anastasia Belyaeva salvaged her match in three sets to make the score, 4-3.

Radford will wrap up its fourth match in seven days when it travels to Elon on Saturday at 1 p.m.
