MEN’S TENNIS BOUNCES BACK TO PICK UP 7-0 WIN OVER BELMONT ABBEY

BELMONT, N.C. – The Radford men's tennis team had a quick turnaround after its first loss of the season and picked up a 7-0 win over Belmont Abbey on Saturday morning.

It was all gas and no brakes for the Highlanders throughout the entire day. The day began when Matko Varga and Andres Silva won their doubles match 6-1 on court 3. Following the finish, Michiel Meekers and Alexandros Caldwell clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win.

The Highlanders took a 3-0 lead when Pierre-Olivier Lassalle took won the first singles match of the day on court 5 and Caldwell picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win on court 3.

It was just five minutes later that the matched was clinched by Varga. He was playing as the 6 and won 6-1, 6-2. That gave Radford a 4-0 lead.

Shortly after the match was clinched Meekers picked up his third singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Sirous defeated Belmont Abbey's top player, 6-4 and 6-2. The day ended with Rodrigo Magalhaes sealing his matchup on court 2, 6-4, 6-4. Magalhaes completed the sweep for the Highlanders as no individual match went into a third set.

STAT OF THE MATCH
It was the Highlanders first 7-0 win since March 14, 2018 when they defeated Shaw University in Blacksburg.
