RADFORD FALLS TO NO. 20 AUBURN IN THE FINAL DAY OF THE WAR EAGLE CHALLENGE

AUBURN, Ala. – Destiny Freeman hit a solo home run in the seventh inning that was the highlight of the Highlanders offense in a 7-2 loss to No. 20 Auburn on Sunday at Jane B. Moore Field in Auburn, Ala.

Radford was only able to get two hits, but the two hits resulted in a pair of runs. Aside from the first inning where all three batters struck out, the Highlanders had at least one base runner in six of the seven innings. Despite the two hits Radford drew four walks in the contest.

After Auburn struck first with two runs in the first inning, Radford had the tying run at first base in the fourth inning. Talia Douglas, who recorded the Highlanders' first hit, was at third and Maggie Rowe was at first after she drew a two-out walk. Hunter Mundy reached base with an error by Makenna Dowell, the Tiger third baseman. Douglas safely ran home on the play and cut the lead in half, 2-1.

Auburn answered the Highlander run with one run on four hits in the fourth inning. The lead could have been more, but the Radford defense got the first and second outs at the plate after the run scored. A fly out to Sofia Tapia in right field ended the inning and left the bases full for Auburn.

Taylon Snow increased the Auburn lead to four, 5-1, with a two-run double to center field in the fifth inning. Radford drew a leadoff walk for the third time in the sixth inning but a 6-4-3 double play and a fly out to right field ended the late threat.

The Tigers manufactured one of its two runs in the bottom of the sixth and Kendall Veach hit a solo shot for the seventh and final Auburn run of the game.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
