VARGA LIFTS MEN’S TENNIS PAST LONGWOOD, 4-3

RADFORD, Va. – Two singles matches were left in the match when Matko Varga won his and gave Radford a victory over Longwood on Wednesday afternoon at the Radford Tennis Complex.

The Highlanders were up 3-2 and needed just one more singles victory to clinch the match with two still unfinished. Varga was in his third set with a 5-1 lead and won the final point as the guys celebrated the match victory with a 4-2 lead.

The final singles competition of the match ended shortly after, but it didn't go the Highlanders way. Yevhen Sirous fell to Amadeo Blasco in three sets – two of which went into tiebreakers. That made it a 4-3 score, but the match was already in favor of Radford for its 10^th win of the season.

The Highlanders (10-2, 2-0 Big South) swept the doubles competition and took a 1-0 lead. Then Michiel Meekers gave increased the lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 lead on court 4.

The Lancers (8-4, 1-1 Big South) picked up two victories on courts 3 and 2 that tied the match at two. Andres Silva came up with a clutch win on court 5 over Raisei Sakai on court 5. Silva's fourth singles win of the season put Radford up, 3-2.

Moments later Varga picked up his 10^th victory of the year and clinched the match for the Highlanders
