LACROSSE EDGED IN OVERTIME MATCH AT ROBERT MORRIS

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Radford women's lacrosse team suffered a heartbreaking overtime defeat, 13-12, at Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon despite battling all the way back to take a late lead in the game.

Trailing by as many as four goals in the second half, the Highlanders showed a ton of heart and strung together a 7-1 run to take an 11-9 lead with just 5:30 left in regulation. The Colonials bounced back though, scoring three of the final four goals in the second half to force overtime at 12-all.

Robert Morris ended up winning the draw control to open the extra period, giving them the first attempt at a game-winner. Mackenzie Gandy took a pass from her twin sister Melanie and charged the net before scoring the golden goal to give the Colonials a narrow victory.

Senior midfielder Emma Rogers was unstoppable for Radford, tallying five goals and two assists for seven points. Junior attacker Lindsey Carroll was a serious threat on the offensive end as well, contributing three goals and three assists for six points.

The Highlanders really turned things up a notch in the second half, scoring nine goals after getting just three in the first half. Juliette Ruland (x2), Callie Bonnel and Jennifer Shield were responsible for four of them.

Usually one of the team's top attackers, senior Adrian Rius stepped up her game on the defensive end on Saturday. The Boca Raton, Fla. native led Radford with seven ground ball pickups and three caused turnovers. Junior Maddie Mashewske did everything she could in goal as well, making 12 saves.

OVERTIME THRILLERS
Still in just its fourth season, Radford has only had two overtime games ever including this one. The first came against UC Davis on March 26, 2018 when the Aggies snuck away with a 12-11 win.

UP NEXT
Now that non-conference play is over, Coach Hardy and company will turn their attention to the part of the schedule that matters most. Big South play begins on Saturday, March 30 at 1 p.m. when Gardner-Webb visits Cupp Stadium.
