RADFORD SCORES A RUN IN EVERY INNING, SWEEPS PRESBYTERIAN

RADFORD, Va. – Ten runs on 13 hits and at least one run in every inning was the recipe for success as the Highlanders powered past Presbyterian, 10-5, in the series finale on Sunday at Radford Softball Stadium.

Maggie Rowe and Talia Douglas picked up six of the 13 hits and all but on Highlander in the lineup had at least one hit. The duo had identical stat lines as they each went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, a home run and a double with one RBI.

The scoring began early as a pair of runs crossed the plate in the first inning. Hannah Morris extended the lead to 3-0 with her first collegiate hit and RBI. She singled to left center field and plated Rowe, who reached with a one-out double.

The lead grew to 5-0 when Destiny Freeman scored on a Hunter Mundy sac fly and Douglas scored on a fielding error by the Blue Hose third baseman.

All seemed to be in control for Radford until Jessie Marvin allowed three runs on three hits in the fourth inning. The inning was highlighted by a Macy Hyatt two-run home run.

Freeman's 'anything you can do, I can do better' attitude showed up in the fourth inning when she gave Radford a couple of insurance runs with a two-run home run and created a four-run lead, 7-3.

After a Highlander pitching change, each team traded a run in the fifth inning making it an 8-4 contest. It was M. Rowe, who gave Radford its eighth run of the game. Then Douglas gave the Highlanders their third home run of the game and a 10-4 lead in the sixth inning.

Kayla Huffman surrendered a consolation run in the seventh but got the final out and picked up her second save of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Aside from Douglas and Rowe, Fisher was the only Highlander with a multi-hit game. Freeman drove in three RBIs and scored twice. Her home run was the seventh of the season, which leads all players. Marvin picked up her seventh win of the season pitching 4.0 innings, allowing three runs on four hits. Huffman added three strikeouts in three innings in her outing.

STAT OF THE GAME
Rowe and Douglas were each a triple away from the cycle. The two combined for six hits, two home runs, two doubles and two RBIs with four runs scored.

QUOTABLE
"It's always big to get a sweep, especially in conference play," Creasy said. "I thought we did a lot of things well in this game. I was happy to see a lot of players pick up hits, especially in the middle third of the lineup. We have to keep the momentum going and defend home turf with five games at home this week."
