MEN’S TENNIS COMES UP SHORT AT JAMES MADISON

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Radford men's tennis team fell just short at East Campus Tennis Courts on Tuesday night in a 4-3 loss to James Madison.

Radford took an early 1-0 advantage when they took the doubles point but fell in the first singles match. Nonetheless, the Highlanders took a 3-1 lead when Alexandros Caldwell and Rodrigo Magalhaes picked up wins on court 3 and 2, respectively. Both courts went into a third set.

Everything was going Radford's way until the final three matches began in the three-court setup. Needing just one singles match victory, Radford could never get it.

William Karpinski defeated Matko Varga on court 5 and cut the deficit to one. Michiel Meekers was close to ending the match but fell 7-6 in both sets with a 9-7 tiebreaker a result of the second set.

It all came down to court 6. Andres Silva was unable to come through and fell to Tate Steinour. That gave JMU the 4-3 victory.
