CLINTON, S.C. – The Radford women's lacrosse team outscored Presbyterian 15-0 in the second half en route to a dominating 25-3 victory, the largest victory in program history, at Bailey Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.
Fifteen different Highlanders scored at least one goal on the day, led by seniors Callie Bonnel, Juliette Ruland, Adrian Rius and Michaela Petersen who each recorded a hat trick. Bonnel supplied three assists as well while sophomore Jennifer Shield matched her with three assists of her own.
Radford (3-7, 2-0 Big South) raced out to an 8-0 lead with 14:21 still on the clock in the first half. The Blue Hose (1-11, 0-2 Big South) managed to piece together a 3-0 run, but a pair of goals right before the period ended gave the Highlanders a 10-3 advantage heading into halftime.
With a seemingly never-ending series of draw control wins and quick strikes in the offensive third, Radford absolutely took over in the second half to seal the game away. Freshmen Kirsten Grzybowski, Carlie Rosenburg, Madison Ryan, Grace Gleason and Katie Carroll all scored their first career goals to help the cause.
Lindsey Carroll and Emma Rogers provided two goals each while Jen Shield, Amanda Paino, Carley Craddock and Anna Robinson accounted for one goal each. By the end of the game, Radford had scored 25 goals on 39 shots including 34 shots on frame.
Thanks to some great defense as well, the Highlanders earned advantages in shots (39-15), shots on goal (34-7), draw controls (22-8), ground balls (24-18) and successful clears (13-8).
Radford's biggest win before Wednesday came on March 4, 2017 when it defeated Delaware State 24-6 at Cupp Stadium. The Highlanders either set new school records or tied school records in points (36), goals scored (25), fewest goals scored by an opponent (3) and as mentioned before, largest margin of victory (22).
