TWO EARLY GOALS LEAD RADFORD OVER ETSU

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. – Two first half goals carried the Radford women's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over ETSU on Friday night.

Alexeis Kirnos opened the scoring for the Highlanders in the 24th minute when she headed in a goal off a corner kick from Lily McLane. McLane played in the ball from the right side and found an open Kirnos, who headed into the left side of the goal. The freshman gave Radford a 1-0 lead.

The Highlanders leading goal-scorer gave Radford a 2-0 lead just five minutes later when Nelia Perez found the back of the net for the Highlanders. Reese Degnan found Perez streaking down the field and played the ball in to the senior who finished for the goal.

Radford carried the 2-0 lead into the locker room and the lead held up thanks to a stellar defense and a full 90 minutes of play from goalkeeper Courtney Kaplan.

After firing eight shots in the first half, the Highlanders took three in the second half but still outshot the Buccaneers 11-5. A trio of Highlanders led the way with a pair of shots each. Perez and Kirnos had two, while Kayla Thomas added a pair of shots.

QUOTABLE
I'm proud of the team for winning three consecutive road games," Ben Sohrabi said. "I believe this is the first time we've won down in Johnson City since 1997 so this is a big win for this group. We played extremely well in the first half and turned some great possession into two nice goals.  We still have room for improvement but I like how we're growing.
