 VOLLEYBALL
 

at Carolina Classic - Friday, Sept. 20 - Saturday, Sept. 21
Where: Chapel Hill, N.C. (Carmichael Arena)

  • The Highlanders recently competed at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn's Landing Cherry & White Challenge and took on host Temple, Lehigh, and Columbia. 
  • Radford split the final day of the tourney, taking game one against Lehigh in three sets. Hailey Flowers was named to the All-Tournament team. 
  • Stephanie Neast joins teammate Taylor O'Neal as the only pair of Highlanders with double-doubles this season.
  • Colgate's win against Quinnipiac last weekend, earned them a six-match win streak, the longest since winning eight straight from Oct. 9-Nov. 1, 2016.
  • Colgate earned 95 points and a first-place vote in the Patriot League Preseason Poll for a third-place prediction, ultimately coming in behind American (118, 11 first-place votes), and narrowly trailing Navy (98, four first-place votes).
  • VCU is currently riding a two game losing streak after dropping a pair of contests to No.13 BYU and James Madison. 
  • To start the month of September, the Rams notched Jasmin Sneed as the A-10 Defensive Player of the Week. 
  • UNC-Chapel Hill started the season at the ACC-Big Ten Challenged and played a pair of matches against No.3 Minnesota and No.5 Wisconsin. 
  • Tar Heel's head coach Joe Sagula picked up his 600th UNC win back on Sept. 7 in a win over UC Irvine. 
 
 WOMEN'S SOCCER

  • After having another sold non-conference slate, the Highlanders will begin conference play and defend the Big South regular season title.
  • Radford is coming off its second loss of the season to a tough Western Carolina squad. The Catamounts netted a goal in the latter minutes of the second half to defeat the Highlanders, 1-0.
  • Radford has outscored its opponents, 12-4, in eight matches but only have a slight shot advantage, 93-88. The Highlanders have landed 40 of their 93 shots on frame.
  • Nelia Perez leads the Highlanders with four goals and one assist, totaling nine points.
  • Gabi Paupst and Brianna Oliver are behind her with five points (two goals, one assist each).
  • Courtenay Kaplan enters with a 6-1 record and 26 saves with 60 shots faced. The senior also has an .887 save percentage.
  • Winthrop enters with a 2-3 record and only has victories over South Carolina State and ETSU – each coming last week. In the two matches, the Eagles outscored their opponents 6-1.
  • WU lost its first three matches of the season against Davidson, Wofford and College of Charleston.
  • Allie Thomas and Natalie Royaards each have a team-high three goals. Thomas has seven points, which is tied for the team lead.
  • Keeley Leising is tied with Thomas with seven points. She has no goals, but seven of the team's 10 assists.

 MEN'S SOCCER
 

at (RV) Coastal Carolina – Saturday, Sept. 21 @ 7 p.m.

  • The Highlanders continue their three-match road trip Saturday night by renewing an old Big South Conference rivalry at Coastal Carolina.
  • Radford owns a 1-3-2 mark on the season after dropping a close 1-0 contest at No. 5 Virginia on Tuesday.
  • This is the second straight match that Radford has faced an opponent that was either ranked or receiving votes in the coaches' poll.
  • Radford had as many shot attempts (nine) and shots on goal (four) as the fifth-ranked Cavaliers, but an early goal gave Virginia the difference in the match.
  • Joseba Incera made three second-half saves to keep the Highlanders within striking distance against Virginia, but none of Radford's four shots on goal challenged Virginia.
  • Radford is outshooting its opponents, 77-60, and has 36 shots on goal compared to 26 for its opponents.
  • Coastal Carolina used late-game heroics to win its last match over Campbell, as Tsiki Ntsabeleng scored the match-winner with four seconds left in regulation.
  • The Chanticleers' win over the Fighting Camels snapped a two-match losing streak for CCU where they were outscored 7-3, including giving up five goals to West Virginia.
  • CCU has been outshot by its opponents, 68-43, including a 23-19 deficit in shots on goal.
  • Tyrone Mondi and Claudio Repetto lead the Chanticleers with two goals apiece. DZ Harmon has a pair of assists for Coastal Carolina.

 
 MEN'S TENNIS
 

at UNCG Hidden Duals - Friday, Sept. 20 - Sunday, Sept. 22
Where: Greensboro, N.C. (UNCG Tennis Courts)
Host Institution: UNC Greensboro
  • The 2019 Big South Tournament Champions will begin the 2019-20 season at UNCG with a three-day hidden dual tournament.
  • The team returns four of the six players in the lineup from a season ago that made an NCAA Tournament appearance.
  • One of the top duos in the region last season, Yevhen Sirous and Rodrigo Magalhaes will look to carry the Highlanders on the courts.

 
 WOMEN'S GOLF
 

at Pirate Collegiate Classic - Monday, Sept. 23 - Tuesday, Sept. 24
Where: Greenville, N.C. (Greenville Country Club)
Host Institution: East Carolina

  • Radford is geared up for the Pirate Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina.
  • The 54-hole tournament will span over two days, with two rounds on Monday and one on Tuesday. Each day will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
  • Radford is coming off a stellar outing at the William & Mary Fall Invitational, where the team shot 904 and finished as the runners-up.
  • Jayde Dudley led the way with a seven-over (223), which landed her in a tie for fourth. She was named the Big South Freshman of the Week last week.

 
MEN'S GOLF


at River Run Collegiate - Monday, Sept. 23 - Tuesday, Sept. 24
Where: Davidson, N.C. (River Run Country Club)
Host Institution: Davidson

  • Men's Golf will travel to Davidson and compete in the River Run Collegiate, hosted by the Wildcats.
  • The 54-hole tournament will begin on Monday at 9 a.m., (first and second rounds) and end on Tuesday at 7:55 a.m.
  • Radford completed competition at the VCU Invitational and finished in eighth place but shot 859 as a team.
  • Peter Gasperini had a stellar third round with a six-under (66). He finished under-par for every round and ended the competition with a 206.

 
CROSS COUNTRY
 

at Virginia Tech Alumni Meet - Friday, Sept. 20
Where: Blacksburg, Va. (Buford Meredith Cross Country Course)
Host Institution: Virginia Tech
  • The Highlanders had a historic season opening at the Virginia Tech Invitational, where two members of the women's team record finishes inside the top-20. The two newcomers commenced their collegiate careers by aiding the team in recording the best 4k finish in school history. 
  • Caitlin Apps and Rachel Millirons completed the race with times of 14:26.8 and 14:46.1 respectively. 
  • Juan Cisneros paced the men's team with his 34th overall finish.
  • Apps and Cisneros swept the Big South weekly awards for their performances.
