 WOMEN'S SOCCER


at VMI – Thurs., September 5 @ 4 p.m.

  • After dropping a tough 2-1 match to Elon on Thursday, Radford bounced back with a monstrous win over East Carolina.
  • Nelia Perez scored the game-winning goal for the Highlanders. It was her third score of the season.
  • Courtenay Kaplan and Lexi Dean had another combined shutout for Radford. The Highlanders have not allowed a goal in the three victories of 2019.
  • This will be the first road match of the young season for Radford.
  • The Keydets enter with a 1-2 record with its lone win coming to Delaware State on August 29.
  • VMI has outscored its opponents, 4-3, in 2019 and outshot them 38-20.
  • All four goals have come from different players. Kiley Cropper has one goal and one assist with a team-leading three points this season.

  • The Highlanders fell victim to a late first half goal that set the Flames apart, 2-1 in the season opener on Friday night but bounced back with an incredible 4-3 overtime victory over UNCG on Monday night.
  • Amadou Macky Diop notched a hat trick for the first time in his career and was the first Highlander to pick up three goals in a match since 2017.
  • Diop is second in the nation with four goals this season and third in goals per game averaging two per match.
  • A pair of freshman showed up in the matches as Mouhameth Thiam tallied two assists and Octavio Ocampo earned his first career goal. His goal tied the match at three and forced an overtime period.
  • The Highlanders rank eighth nationally in shots per game with 20 and landed 8.5 of them on frame ranking 14th in men's soccer.
  • UNCW dropped its first two matches of the season to Georgia Southern and Stetson at the Aaron Olitsky Memorial Classic. 
  • The Seahawks are capable of beating big-name teams as they topped Duke and South Carolina in exhibition matches. 
  • UNCW has only scored three goals this season and all have come from different players. Jacob Evans has one of the goals and is tied for the team lead with five shots.
