HIGH POINT SLIPS BY RADFORD

RADFORD, Va. – Radford (13-12, 11-5 BSC) fell in the waning moments to High Point (12-13, 10-6 BSC) on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers sealed the season series with this 64-63 win over the Highlanders in the Dedmon Center.

High Point got off to a good start notching the first pair of points in the contest, ahead of Khiana Johnson's layup that broke their stride. The Panthers cooled off as the Highlanders edged them out of the first period 18-14, with Sydney Nunley and Bryonna McClean leading the way with eight points each.

High Point returned the favor in the following stanza, posting 17 to Radford's 14. However, the Highlanders headed into halftime on an 8-2 run for the close 32-31 lead.

After the break, Radford stretched out to an eight-point lead thanks to a 9-0 opening period run. High Point responded with a mini rally of their own to get within three of the home team but a layup from McClean and a three-pointer from Makaila Wilson returned the lead to eight points. The teams traded free throws in the closing moments of the third as Amele Ngwafang's pair of makes at the charity stripe turned the page on this stanza. The Highlanders entered the final period leading by five, 48-43.

The Panthers took control early, scoring on a layup within the first 10 seconds of the fourth. They followed that basket with a three-ball and another layup to take a 50-49 lead over the Highlanders. Having seen enough McClean took matters into her own hands and drained her signature pull-up jumper in the paint, to reverse the lead in favor of her team on the and-one play. The teams would go point-for-point down to the final seconds of the game where a layup from Aiden Rainford put the game at 62-61, Radford. High Point's next baskets put them ahead of the home team by two with only 17 seconds left to play. After a Highlander timeout, Ngwafang's offensive rebound sent her to the free throw line with only three seconds left on the clock.

The split trip saw the first free throw drop but the second rimmed out into the hands of Rainford who was unable to get a decent look at the basket as her shot was just off the mark.

DOUBLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE
Ngwafang notched her fifth career double-double today with 14 points and 12 rebounds. She played 29 minutes and made her way to the free throw line 19 times, a career high.
