HIGHLANDERS TIED FOR SEVENTH AFTER OPENING DAY AT WEXFORD PLANTATION INTERCOLLEGIATE

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Radford men's golf team made a 13-shot improvement from its first-round score to its second-round score and finished Monday's opening day of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in a tie for seventh. The Highlanders jumped five spots from the first round to the second round.

Freshman Patrick Gareiss leads the Highlanders after the first two rounds and is tied for 20th at 3-over. Gareiss had five birdies and Radford's lone eagle of the day.

Nicholas Taliaferro had the low round of the day for Radford, shooting a 4-under 68 in the second round. Taliaferro had eight birdies in the round, with five of those coming on the back nine.

Taliaferro and Hunter Duncan are currently part of a tie for 36th overall at 6-over. Peter Gasperini is just a shot behind them at 7-over, which puts him in a tie for 48th. Tyler Hull rounds out the Highlanders' contingent in a tie for 58th at 8-over par.

In the team portion, Augusta leads the field at 6-under, while Augusta's Ben ven Wyk leads the individuals at 7-under. Radford has the most birdies of any team in the field with 36.
