WOMEN’S TENNIS MOVES THROUGH SEASON OPENER WITH EASE

RADFORD, Va. – The Radford women's tennis team saw no difficulty in dispatching UVA-Wise with a 7-0 victory on Sunday afternoon with four Highlanders sweeping their opponents 6-0, 6-0 in back-to-back sets in singles play.

Malin Falk was the first Highlander to finish in singles play with her quick sweep on court three. Tyler Blalock wasn't far behind sweeping her opponent on court four and then it was Katey Fruehauf clinching the match for Radford on court six.

Alexis Cramer also made quick work of her opponent on court five but after a bit of a battle in the first set for both Anastasia Belyaeva and Drousile Dzeubou, both turned around and easily won courts one and two in two sets.

In doubles play the team of Falk and Fruehauf won the first game on court two with the duo of Belyaeva and Cramer clinching the doubles point on court three.

The win was the first for new director of tennis Rob Bareford, his 51st overall in his career at the collegiate level.

The Highlanders take a quick break before jumping right back into action for a match up with Western Carolina here in Radford at 1:00 p.m., on Wednesday.
