RADFORD, Va. – After claiming a share of the Big South regular season title, earning the conference's top seed and hosting rights, the Radford men's basketball team begins its postseason on Thursday evening at 6 p.m., when it takes on Charleston Southern in the 2020 Hercules Tires Big South Championship at the Dedmon Center.

Radford enters the conference tournament having won a share of the regular season title for the second straight season. The Highlanders also won the conference tournament championship in 2017, but are hosting the quarterfinals and semifinals for the first time since 2009.

The Highlanders are led by the Big South Player of the Year, Carlik Jones. Jones was the only player in the conference to average more than 10 points, five rebounds and five assists per game, putting up a stat line of 19.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game. Jones and Travis Fields, Jr., each earned First Team All-Big South honors this season. Fields Jr., is one of seven players in the Big South to average two or more made 3-pointers per game.

In addition, head coach Mike Jones was named the Big South Coach of the Year for the second time in the last three seasons, while Chyree Walker made the All-Academic Team.

Charleston Southern played its way into the quarterfinals by defeating Presbyterian in the first round, 81-64. Phlandrous Fleming Jr. recorded the first triple-double in Big South Championship history in the game, while Deontaye Buskey hit a tournament-record eight 3-pointers and set a new career-high with 30 points in the win.

The Buccaneers and Highlanders have played once this season, with Radford winning in overtime, 77-74. Carlik Jones hit a jumper from the corner at the buzzer to tie that game at the end of regulation.

Fleming Jr., was a First Team All-Big South selection and the conference's Defensive Player of the Year, after leading the league in rebounding (8.6) and setting career-highs in blocks (43) and steals (39). Fleming Jr. averages 17.5 points, 8.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He is one of three Bucs to average double-figure scoring, along with Buskey (10.5) and Ty Jones (10.3).

The winner of Thursday's game will play in the second semifinal on Friday night against the winner of a quarterfinal matchup between Longwood and Hampton.
