RADFORD RUNS THROUGH MID-AFTERNOON MATCH-UP

RADFORD, Va. – The men's tennis program matched up with Southern Virginia Wednesday afternoon and worked their way to an easy 7-0 sweep of the Knights.

The Highlanders started their charge through the day with doubles play where all three duos took down their opponents with ease. Demi Taramonlis and Andres Silva added their fourth straight win one court one with a 6-1 score while Konstantinos Raptis and William Crane clinched the doubles point 6-2.

Yevhen Sirous and Rodrigo Magalhaes wrapped up doubles play with a strong 6-4 victory on court two, the duos ninth victory together this year.

In singles play the tune played the same for Radford with Silva making his first career appearance on court three and winning easily 6-0, 6-0. Raptis followed suit winning 6-0, 6-1 with Matko Varga clinching the match on court six winning 6-3, 6-3.

Magalhaes won his sets on court four 6-3, 6-3 while the other team captain Sirous won on court two 6-0, 7-5. The freshman Taramonlis wrapped up the day with a 7-6(5), 6-2 win on court one handing the Knights' Dias Marcos his first loss of the season.

Radford has outscored their opponents 17-4 over their last three matches. Varga is also approaching forty career singles wins in his four-year career at Radford.

The Highlanders stick to the home court for a match with Mount St. Mary's, their last match before heading to Hilton Head, S.C. for their spring break tournament.
