Women's Track and Field Program Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS – The Radford women's track and field program was named an All-Academic Team on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) after posting a 3.60 cumulative team GPA.

"I am extremely proud of our women and their resiliency," Shelli Sayers, director of track and field and cross country, said. "This was a stressful and difficult semester, so for them to continue to excel in the classroom is outstanding."

Overall, there were 264 different programs honored for their academic excellence and the Highlanders ranked 44th. Radford topped all Big South teams and ranked second in the state behind VCU.

The cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale to be recognized.

The GPA is computed by totaling the cumulative number of semester hours or quarter hours earned for all student-athletes on the NCAA Squad List, including the most recent grading period. Second, by totaling the cumulative number of quality points (GPA multiplied by the number of credit hours) earned by all student-athletes on the NCAA Squad List, including the most recent grading period. The last step is to divide the cumulative number of quality points earned by the cumulative number of semester or quarter hours earned.
