RADFORD, Va. – The Radford Men's Soccer team played an extremely physical match with High Point at Cupp Stadium on Saturday night, but conceded a pair of second half goals and fell, 2-0.
"I was very proud of how we played overall tonight," said Head Coach
Chris Barrett. "I thought we were a bit unfortunate not to get a better result. I am happy that we are playing better every game now."
The Highlanders and Panthers went back-and-forth throughout the first half with both goalkeepers denying any dangerous chances. Both
Giovanni Vasquez and
Yoshiya Okawa forced tough saves but the game remained scoreless heading into halftime.
It was High Point who opened the scoring, knocking in a close-range shot off of a corner kick in the 63
rdminute.
The Panthers then doubled their lead with an insurance goal in the 81
st minute. The visitors saw out the game and secured the conference win.
"We can take a lot from this performance as we prepare for the last stretch of conference play," Coach Barrett concluded.
