Severin Advances to Super Regionals at ITA Regionals

RICHMOND, Va. – The Highlanders competed at the ITA Regionals this past weekend and Guilherme Severin highlighted the tournament for Radford as he picked up two wins and advanced to the ITA Super Regionals hosted by Old Dominion.

The Highlanders saw a majority of their success in singles play on Friday and Saturday. Robert Hagen continued his strong fall with a 6-3, 6-2 win in the opening round on Friday. As the #9 seed, Demis Taramonlis had no issue dispatching his opponent from JMU 6-1, 6-1. Taramonlis would later pick up another victory over William & Mary 6-3, 6-3.

Aditya Balsekar also picked up a comeback win on Friday over Longwood 3-6, 6-4, 6-2. Severin was also able to advance to Saturday with a strong win over Virginia Tech 7-5, 7-5.

On Saturday Radford picked up wins on the back draw from Andres Silva, Manfredi Vergine, and Raphael Mujan. Severin picked up the big win of the day 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the Super Regionals.
