Highlanders Drop Match at North Carolina A&T

Greensboro, N.C. – The Radford volleyball team dropped a competitive match on the road Thursday evening, falling to North Carolina A&T, 3-0, in Big South Conference action.

All three sets were closely contested. In the first set, Radford held an 18-15 lead before the Aggies went on a 7-0 spurt to take control and win the opener 25-20.

In the second game, Radford again fell narrowly, losing 25-23. Senior Kennedi Johnson had three of her team-high 10 kills in the set.

The Highlanders got off to a slow start in set three, falling behind 10-3 and despite a valiant comeback effort ended 25-22 to conclude the match.

Sophomore Emily Dykes also contributed with 10 kills of her own, to go along with two block assists.  

KEY STATS
  • Trinity Burge led the visitors with 20 assists. It was her fourth game of the year with at least 20 helpers.
  • Shelby Hernandez took advantage of her extended playing time, recording nine digs in three sets of work.
  • As a team Radford was hampered by having five service aces to the Aggies' eight.

Radford closes out their early-weekend road trip with a match at High Point. First serve is slated for 4 p.m.
