SALEM, Va. - The Radford Track & Field program opened its 2021-22 Indoor season at the Bast-Cregger Invitational hosted by Roanoke College Friday and Saturday in Salem, Va.

The Highlanders were highlighted by strong individual performances by
Breauna Lane and
Denisha Hoosier. Lane notched a lifetime best in her season opener over 300-meter dash with a time of 42.99 seconds, good for second place. Hoosier went sub-8 seconds three times on the day in the 60-meter dash, finishing fourth in the final with a best of 7.93 seconds.

Radford closed out day two of the competition with a competitive performance from the 4x400m team of
Julia Burkley, Lane,
Shaneece Smith, and
Grace Reynolds who finished second place with a time of 4:10.44, narrowly missing the win.

OTHER HIGHLANDERS IN ACTION:
- Shaneece Smith and Talasjah Weathersby both advanced in the 60m prelims. Smith made her collegiate debut with a time of 8.02 seconds to win her heat. Weathersby also competed in the 200m.
- Grace Reynolds and Julia Burkley both competed in the 300m, finishing fourth and sixth, respectively.
- Maddie Wright finished third in the pentathlon after winning the 800m to close out the competition.
- Brianna Krug and Mackenzie Walker both competed in the 1,000-meter run, finishing third and fourth respectively.
- Bayle Wood competed in the weight throw, finishing 13th.
UP NEXT
The Highlanders will return to action in the new year as they head to the VMI Keydet Invitational on Jan. 21-22.
