RADFORD, Va. – The Radford (5-9, 5-7 BSC) women's basketball team took on Big South Conference leading High Point (15-5, 13-2 BSC) on Friday afternoon, falling to the Panthers 103-73. The Highlanders were paced by
Tina Lindenfeld who tied her career-highs in points, field goals made, and three-point field goals made.
High Point was able to mount an impressive 35-9 opening period. However, the Highlanders responded with in kind with an increased defensive pressure to conclude the second period holding the Panthers to 15 points, while scoring the same amount.
Radford's offensive output soared after the intermission, notching 25 total points in third period. With seven different Highlanders scoring, the Highlanders' offensive distribution was better displayed with five two-pointers and four triples in addition to
Taiye Johnson's and-one basket to end the period.
In the final period, Radford set the tone with another and-one basket this time from
Kyanna Morgan followed by points from Johnson and McClean to bring the deficit to 21-points. The Highlanders were outscored in this stanza 29-24 but displayed an intensity not seen early on.
High Point had five in double figures, with a pair notching 20-plus points. Skyler Curran led the Panthers with 24 points and six rebounds. They concluded the contest shooting 53.8 percent, 52.9 percent from deep, and 100 percent from the charity stripe.
Highlander Highlight
Lindenfeld ended the game with 15 points, five field goals made, and five three-point field goals made to tie her career-highs in those respective categories. She logged a total of 29 minutes, shooting 55.6 percent from the floor, and 71.4 percent from three.
